Don't be stupid!!!

Good morning all, it's been a little while since my last blog but here's a little something for you to think about.

Insurance policies are built on information received from clients and the accuracy of that information is crucial to if you are going to get paid out should you have a claim.

All seems fairly sensible doesn't it!

However there are very few days that go by without a client trying to get around the details that are required or lie to achieve a reduced premium with us here.

e.g. Do you live permanently in your house, "I can do". "I pass it everyday and am working on it". Sorry that would still be unoccupied and the cost is a little higher to reflect that but you will be able to get a full normal household package when you move in. " Just say I live there".

This merry-go-round goes on in all types of Insurance as people try to get round the cost and cover, but they don't seem to understand that the Insurance Policy is not worth having unless it is accurate and Insurers are at liberty to not pay out if they decide so and pursue fraudulent claims.

So, what is the point don't lie , twist or manipulate the system you will get caught out.

Also how many people do there Insurance on line and lie to get better premiums or withhold details, many I suspect but beware Insurers are becoming more and more clever and you will get caught out and that could prove to be very expensive.

The Gardening Broker

Good afternoon all, trust you all had a lovely weekend. After a hectic couple of days myself as I sat in the lounge last night I reflected on one or two crazy things I had done over the past two days without giving it a moments thought.

I am not one of life's great DIY experts or gardeners, I love a tidy house and garden but am not a great exponent of any of these disciplines. However I do give it a go and on most occasions make a good fist of it.

On Saturday and Sunday the garden hedges needed a good tidy this would involve me getting out the electric trimmer and going round the garden cutting and tidying. The hedges and bushes go up to a height of about 12 feet and I would need the ladder my father had kindly given to me along with the use of his trimmer.

As I climbed the ladder, which I had done on several occasions, I thought that this does not seem overly safe, the ladder was not anchored to the ground very well and at the top the hedge didn't represent a good place to put the top of the ladder, which became apparent as I reached the top and the ladder lurched left sending my face into the very prickly bush.

You must remember that as this was happening I was brandishing my electric trimmer cutting away at branches and leaves close to my legs and head.

There are couple of points here, don't take chances doing this work without someone to help and get Insurance in place for any Accident that may occur as you could be off work for many weeks or do yourself permanent injury and how would you or your family cope financially. We have such policies available so call and ask me.

P.S This blog was tricky to type with the loss of 6 fingers - Only a joke not really, but you see what I mean.

A gentle stroll.

Good morning all, last night was a little unusual with regards to seeing things, I got home and my better half and I thought it would be nice to take advantage of the evening sunshine and get out on the bikes.

We had a lovely ham salad, fruit and yoghurt and got out the mean machines. As usual my backside took a little while to acclimatise to the seat but it soon got more comfortable and we were away.

Out of the village and onto the next through the countryside admiring the lovely views heading towards our Pub stop. As always it amazes me that whatever direction you go the wind is in your face and as each incline arrives you begin to wonder why you thought it would be relaxing to come out on the bikes, however we arrive in Scratby and head towards the beach front to look at the fantastic views of the beach and the sea.

As we turn onto the cliff top my eye is taken by a couple walking along on top of the cliff holding a lead, nothing unusual about that I hear you say. Being the owner of a Yorkshire Terrier myself I thought bloody hell that's a small dog, but it wasn't a dog at all. It was a HEDGEHOG. Yes a hedgehog on a lead, out for a walk. As I and my partner swerved on our bikes through both laughter and disbelief we almost came a cropper ourselves.

We regained our composure and completed our journey but I have never seen a hedgehog out for a walk but I have seen a ferret out on a lead. I would be interested to hear of other strange things other people have seen out for a walk other than humans.

UPDATE:

Done a little research in to this and it seems as though the hedgehog are a fairly popular pet. In the United States the African Pygmy Hedgehog was (if only for a very brief time) the celebrity pet of choice .

Protect your Tools - Ooooh errrrrrr misses

Good afternoon all, how would you manage you Trades folk if you lost your Tools well we now have a solution for you, you can cover them for a reasonably small amount. Details of the cover is below so have a read. Premiums start at £40.00 to cover up to £1,000 of tools. We simply need to clarify a couple of points get your vehicle details then get you on cover. Have a read see what you think.

Tools Protect
What is Tools Protect?

Trades people rely on their tools to carry on their business. All too frequently, insurance for tools when in vehicles contains restrictions where the policy will only pay claims when vehicles are locked in a garage or secure compound. Trades people require cover when their vehicle is parked and locked on their drive, outside their house, or on site at customer premises.

Tools protect provides a tools in van insurance policy that protects the insured from having to find the money to replace tools should they find themselves in the unfortunate position that they are unable to work, due to the theft of tools from their van or the tools are damaged as a result of an accident involving the van.

By taking out tools in van insurance cover the insured will be safe in the knowledge that the
cost of replacing tools need not to be at their expense.

SIGNIFICANT FEATURES & BENEFITS

  • Cover extends to such incidents occurring in Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Diary 19/07/2013

Good morning all, well what a very busy few days it's been hence my lack of blog but I am squeezing in a little offering for you today.

As I finished work last night and got off home I was looking forward to getting out of my work gear and into something a little more comfortable, getting my dinner down me and taking my Yorkshire Terrier Rubylu out for a walk on the beach with the better half.

We got onto the beach and, as usual, was greeted by many other dog walkers and their hounds getting the benefit of the lower temperatures and the fantastic beach on their doorstep.

Now putting on my Insurance hat, I wonder how many of those people Insure their dog? We do obviously, but I have a feeling that many do not risking a huge Vets bill for instance or your dog biting someone and you getting dragged into litigation.

So, if you do not have any cover then get onto our website and get yourself a quote you may be surprised how little it is. Get the pouche covered!

Diary 09/07/2013.

Good afternoon all,

I have been a little pushed recently so my blogs have been a little thin on the ground but we are here again. It's the holiday season and I trust you have your Travel Insurance sorted?

My guess is that some of you will but a good majority won't and some will even contemplate going without any. To those people I would say don't be stupid you are risking so much for what can be a very reasonable cost. I find that you need to look at it in terms that for smaller incidents it is not particularly useful but for major incidents such as a medical emergency it is vital that you have cover. Think of the cost to you of your medical care or to fly you home without that cover in place.

It could wipe you out financially.

Another important thing when sorting out your cover is to be completely honest regards to any current illnesses or treatment you may be having or waiting to have. Most of the Insurers have a Medical Helpline so can run the details past them to make sure you know where the cover is in relation to your condition.

If you need a hand just call us here we can go through the details with you and in the majority of cases get you the cover you need.

Call us 01603 400755 Philip.

Diary 21/06/2013

Good afternoon all, I had a very interesting meeting today with an excellent local Accountants in which we discussed approaching local Caravan and Holiday Parks in Norfolk with a view to providing bespoke Insurance quotations and a specialist Accountancy service with the leisure arm of that Accountants.

I will call into the businesses and ask for renewal dates with a view to contacting them nearer their renewal date and giving them a quality Insurance quotation. The Accountancy practise will offer their services which specialise in the leisure field hopefully offering savings and ideas to cut their Tax bills or offer ways to further save them money.

If you are involved in the leisure industry and fancy a chat or visit with no obligation then call me Philip on 01603 400755.

In a moment of madness on Wednesday night I thought I would play a game of tennis, bearing in mind I have not played for many years the fact that I can hardly move today should not be a surprise but you tend to forget how painful sore muscles can be and the pain includes areas in which I didn't think I had any muscles to ache. My eyelids are even sore.

Hope you all have a good weekend and catch you all next week.

Diary 19/06/2013

Good afternoon everyone, what a very warm day, my decision to play a game of tennis tonight after not playing for a number of years is looking very wrong indeed. I am certainly risking serious injury or paralysis or both if I am not careful.

This has set me thinking about injuries and the effect they can have on your life. You go to work, go out in the evening you take at all for granted but what would happen if you got injured either at work or pursuing a sport that you love. For example you are a Self Employed Plumber you like to go out on your bike and you get hit or crash and break your leg. Than you have next to no income for a period of time, can you pay your bills, mortgage etc have you enough savings to meet your outgoings, my guess is No.

We can get you cover for these possibilities that will protect you and your family with either a Personal Accident or Personal Accident & Sickness policy quotation so don't think "it won't happen to me" because it may well do then you will be up the creek without a paddle just for the sake of maybe a few quid a month.

Good afternoon, we are having a look at quite a large Landlords Insurance today on a number properties. The policy contains cover for the Buildings and Contents extending to include loss of rent and liabilities.

We offer a range of products in this area which are well worth a look if you have just one buy to let property or several properties. If you need a quote call us at The Insurance Centre Limited on 01603 400755 and we will get you a quotation and go over the cover for you. If you have a property you rent out to others just make sure that your current Insurers are aware as to the use of the property on the policy as this may cause you big issues in the event of a claim.

We also offer a range of Commercial Landlords products if you have shops or offices or factory/ industrial units etc. or a mixture of residential/ Commercial and rent those out we can help you have the correct policy.

Diary 17/06/2013.

Good afternoon to you all, how many of you don't bother with Travel Insurance? Are you bonkers! You are if you don't take out the cover. I have been on holiday several times and without fail something happens or you have a near miss, which is fine if you are on these shores but if you are in a foreign land you could be looking down the barrel of complete ruin.

So get on our website or call us for a quotation, be honest about any medical issues so you get help to get the cover you need also think carefully about what you will be up to out there, don't be rude! I mean what activities will you attempt, namely hand gliding, white water rafting etc. The policies are issued usually with a standard level of cover to do certain things stray outside these and your cover may be lacking. Insurers may be willing to extend cover or they may not but at least you will know what is and what isn't covered. The moral is tell Insurers everything and see what they can do or you may be advised to seek a specialist Insurer for the activity you need covering or the illness you have or any other underwriting issue. Travel Insurance is not the place to hide anything as you will be knackered when you are out there.

Even U.K holidays are worth covering for cancellations etc. so get a quote and have a look at what is covered.

Diary 14/06/2013

Good afternoon,

What have we all got planned this weekend? Well I have to work tomorrow morning until 1.00 p.m here at The Insurance Centre followed by trip in to town to purchase some walking boots as my feet are killing me as my current pair are heading to that shoe graveyard in the sky.

More excitingly on the Saturday evening I will be attending a 50th Birthday party at a local pub. Now talking of events such as parties or weddings or any gatherings did you know that in the majority of cases we can get Insurance for these events. Why bother I here you say! Who would people look to if an incident happened at the party which was not down to the venue namely a fight etc. or if you had to cancel your event due to illness or the weather then I can tell you that you would be out of pocket or maybe sued. So a policy to cover these things would be very useful.

Have a look on our website and get a premium or call us for a quote. With weddings costing a small fortune if they go wrong it can be very costly indeed. Open 9.00 a.m - 5.30 p.m. weekdays and 9.00 a.m. - 1.00 p.m Saturday

Have a great weekend and catch you next week.

Diary 12-13/06/2013

Good morning to you all, what a night, it all began innocently enough with a visit to the gym after work then home for tea. Then changed into jimjams ready to settle down to a little drink and T.V.

Just switched on the telly and nothing all the electric off, not a flicker anywhere so off to the consumer box, which normally works, to lift the switch that has been tripped out and bob's your uncle power back on. On this occasion NOTHING, so as darkness falls I grab hold of my Home Electrics Insurance policy and give them a call. This is the sales pitch get yourself some quotes to have Home Electrics/ boiler/ heating cover from us, this is very useful and relatively inexpensive.
Call Philip 01603 400755.

In due course the Engineer arrives to help us and he does the checks for us and informs me , now seriously tired, that we have no power coming into the house and the issue appears to be a supply problem. He very kindly and efficiently said he would call the supplier and get them out for us. In due course the supply company arrived at about 1.15 a.m and sorted out a generator and advise that the company would reappear to look for the fault. Fantastically they have come back today before 9.00 a.m and found the fault and are trying to get it fixed.

So there are couple of things to say regards all this and they are that you should all look at taking out Home Emergency cover as this has been invaluable and people moan about the efficiencies of companies but up to this point all the company's concerned have been excellent.

I am writing this prior to me nodding off as I am feeling knackered.

Good morning to you all, a hectic week has begun as one of my colleagues is on his Hols this week I have to think about some other things extra to the norm always an issue for me but extending the mind is always good.

If you are a company that has 3 or more vehicles currently Insured separately then consider a Small Fleet policy which gets them all together and gives you flexibility in drivers etc. Give us a call 01603 400755 Philip and we will gets some details for you.

Are you a Landlord or owner of a Buy to Let Property then we seem to be very competitive for those risks so call again for quotations we can usually get you a premium while you are on the phone for those clean risks.

I have been out this morning visiting a client at their Offices in Beccles area, this shows you one of the most important aspects of my job and something that sets me apart from many others and that is personal contact and getting to know customers in their own environment which allows me to see the risk up close and personal and convey the various aspects to the Underwriters and the client has that personal touch which I believe they want to help them in transacting their Insurance and they can speak to me whenever they want to, what a lucky lot they are. So get that personal touch for your business call Philip 01603 400755 so I can arrange to see you.

Diary 03/06/2013 & 04/06/2013

Good day to you all, what a lovely day weather wise.

At The Insurance Centre we are very busy dealing with new enquiries, renewals and general Insurance amendments and claims issues.

It never ceases to amaze me how people are with Insurance, by that I mean they are inaccurate regards to information, leave policies until after renewal before getting in touch, drive up to renew a vehicle Insurance after the renewal date or not bothering with Insurance at all.

The cost is relatively small against the possible claim and subsequent major problems that would occur without the cover in place, so why not get a quote spread the cost and have the peace of mind. People are also economical with the truth, they want the cover but are not prepared to
pay the premium so instead opt for a middle ground option which because the information is wrong probably means the cover is reduced or non existent so why bother.

I have finished my rant for today, so get in touch with us give us the full picture pay a reasonable cost and get properly covered. We are local and can help you get the cover you need at that reasonable cost.

Diary 31/05/2013

Good lord the sun is shining and it's Friday that's two things to be thankful for today. We are still in a busy part of the year with plenty of new business and renewals to occupy our time.

I am focusing today a little on Liability Insurance for the Self Employed, so if you are a tradesman and need Liability Insurance for you and your business please call us on 01603 400755 and in most instances we can sort you out over the phone or you can call into our office and give us a look.

So why bother having the cover at all nothing will go wrong will it?

Probably not but are you willing to take the risk - Many of our policyholders are grateful they did have cover like the Plumber whose joints came adrift ( metal not bodily) in a top floor flat damaging that flat and the one below Insurers paid - £5000.00.

Or the Kitchen Installer whose kitchen leaked water into the walls over a number of years Insurers paid £25,000.

These are just a couple of examples but could you afford to pay the claim yourself I know I couldn't, so check out a cost for the cover with us I am sure you will be surprised as to the relatively low amount you may have to pay. Call 01603 400755 Philip. Open 09.00 a.m to 5.30 p.m each weekday and 09.00 a.m to 1.00 p.m on a Saturday.

Another Day Another Dollar

Good afternoon to you all,

It's been one of those days today when you seem to be running around busy but not quite getting there. I went to a very interesting Network event this morning looking at using "You Tube" to further your business and get it out to the masses. We here at The Insurance Centre Limited embrace Social Media through various forms including Twitter, Face book, Linkedin and Google Plus. This has proved very beneficial and gets us into the minds of the local populous and beyond promoting us and giving people faces to attach to the business.
The Seminar was organised by the excellent Best of Norwich who are a fantastic company well worth your attention.

I am aiming to get us more into these platforms in the future and am thinking of more innovative ways that I can improve our output and content. Please have a look at our sites and get involved.

Diary 29/05/2013 Excesses

Good afternoon to you all, Today I would like to talk about policy excesses. Fantastic I hear you cry!

An excess will likely only become known to you when you need to claim on your insurance. It may come as somewhat of a shock if you were not prepared for or even aware that it existed at all. So let me try and help you, as brokers we point out the total excesses you have on your Motor Insurance Policy with us.

If you are undertaking a quote yourself you may have hidden away extra excesses that you are not fully aware of at the time you take out the policy on line etc.

On motor insurance there are generally two types of Excess.
  • Compulsory Excess
  • Voluntary Excess
Compulsory excesses are as the name suggests a compulsory excess charged by an insurer. Voluntary excesses also as the name suggests are (usually) optional and may result in a discounted premium.

Both the voluntary and compulsory excesses must be paid in the event of a claim which can cause the unsuspecting motorist out at a time when they are most vulnerable.

The moral of this tale is to use a Broker we will explain the cover to you and you can talk to us or visit our office to speak to the same person each time.

Good morning all hope you had a great weekend.

I am back to it today always difficult after a nice weekend but Insurance waits for no man and we are straight in today with a range of Insurance quotes being required.

Insurance is one of those things people put to one side and forget until something happens then they race to the cupboard to find the paperwork or realise that they have NO insurance at all and are knackered. So take the time to read the policy details on your Insurances and more importantly get yourself some Insurance especially for your Home and Contents. We can quote normally over the phone very quickly and the cost may be a lot less than you think.

As we are local we can offer to visit our customers for Commercial Business Insurance enquiries so please do not hesitate to contact me for details.

Well what can you say as I stood filling up the car with fuel today it was bloody freezing just like a Winter's day. Hopefully it will be a better picture for the weekend and we can get out and get a bit of fresh air.

I am tidying up some files today and visiting a client regards to his fleet Insurance this morning. Talking of Fleets did you realise you don't need to have lots and lots of vehicles to have a Fleet Insurance policy, in fact consideration will be given to Business Fleets containing 3 or more vehicles. So if you are , for instance a Builder with 3 vans it is worth us looking at a Fleet quotation for you. Simply provide us with details of the vehicles/ cover/ No claims bonus in years on each vehicle and drivers details and we will have a go for you. At the very worst we can quote individually for you and may be save you money.

As you may be struggling to deal with your Broker or Insurer following a claim being sent round the world to have your car/ van repaired and your questions answered why not consider giving your local Broker here in Norwich a call for a quote and even consider, if the quote is close to your own or probably better coming and doing your Insurance here locally at The Boundary in Norwich. You can call in and see us , speak to the same person each time if you want. We are only a quick call or visit away, support us so we can support you. We are open on Saturday's from 09.00 a.m to 1.00 p.m. and each weekday 09.00 a.m to 5.30 p.m.

Have a lovely weekend and I will be blogging again next week.

Diary entry 23/05/2013 An Insurance Brokers Lot.

Good afternoon all, today is a fine example as to the daily diversity that happens during a working week.

Left home at 07.45 a.m.
Arrive work 08.20 a.m.

Following meetings yesterday first job is to get 5 emails drafted and sent to Claims departments to help client in recoveries against Third Parties. Claims departments vary in their assistance in dealing with claims some are very helpful and try to get the thing sorted and the client back on the road as soon as possible others do all they can to be awkward requiring all manner of details and have no regards to the client and his need to keep mobile and / or carry out his business. We are trying to put the client into a similar position as they were prior to claim but this can prove very tricky when negotiating with the claims departments. It is also true to say that clients need a realistic view also having to compromise on occasions to reach a conclusion. Fairness is a key word.

I do have to agree with clients that some Insurers cave in far to quickly in respect of paying out for injuries or damages to propety and a more robust defence or investigation would yield a good return on investment for Insurers. I do however understand that they constrained by the Law on many issues.

Next out to further meeting regards to collecting a renewal payment for a Catering Business then a Fleet enquiry and on site visit.

Back to office make some calls deal with some further issues , emails, more renewals and then retreat to a dark room and relaaaaaaaax.

How about a couple of jokes to cheer us all up:

What does a Lion have for breakfast? - Cheetabix
What does a vampire have for breakfast? - Readyneck

If the weather holds off tonight I may well treat myself by cutting the grass, what a glamorous life I live. If I do cut the grass I may well have to put on my thermals.

As an Insurance Broker I feel that a major part of our appeal is the ability to visit clients at their homes or place of work, this gives us an edge over Direct Writers who can't / won't visit anyone. We build a rapport with the customer and this in turn leads, hopefully, to a lasting business relationship and added value for the client who gets personal treatment and feels that he can turn to us for advice and help whenever he/ she needs.

We in turn get to see the risk first hand and to assess its good and bad points, discuss with the client the issues and benefits and offer help to improve the risk and deal with any problems before they occur.

These benefits are particularly useful to our Commercial business customers whom rely on their business to provide for their families etc so need cover to be first class and dealt with efficiently.

We also give you help on your claims to get the process going and settled as soon as possible.

Today for instance after lunch I will be going off to Great Yarmouth to collect a clients renewal premium so he can carry on operating his Fish & Chip Shop. We'll discuss any changes etc with the minimum of disruption. Then I will be doing my weekly visit to a Taxi Insurance customer and assisting on his claims which as he has a number of vehicles hopefully will help him conclude the issues and get settlements and maintain his claims record which in turn helps to secure good renewal terms next year.

Fronting 21/05/2013

I thought you may be interested in  an article regards Fronting, that may give you some useful information when considering quotations for your little ones. There is no way around the initial cost to young drivers and in an attempt to cut corners you risk a great deal more.

Drivers risk invalidating insurance by ‘fronting’

More than two-thirds (70%) of UK drivers do not understand what it means to ‘front' an insurance policy and of those that understand what fronting is, there are one in five who admit to misleading their insurer and committing this kind of motor insurance fraud, according to research from the Motor Insurers' Bureau (MIB) and Aviva.

Insurance ‘fronting' occurs when someone other than the main driver of a vehicle is incorrectly declared as the policy holder. An example of this would be a parent insuring a car and declaring themselves as the main driver in order to reduce the insurance premium, when in fact their son or daughter will be the main user of the vehicle. By doing this, motorists are committing fraud and under contract terms, could invalidate an insurance policy.

The research, which forms part of MIB's Stay Insured campaign and is aimed at drivers who may be vulnerable to driving without adequate insurance during the recession, also indicates that there is a disconnect between drivers' perceptions of fronting as a "white lie" versus the reality of it as a legal offence:
  • More than a third (35%) of drivers justify 'fronting' as being a loophole in the law
  • One in ten (10%) believe that ‘fronting' is a legitimate way of obtaining cheaper motor insurance
  • And only a third (30%) of motorists were able to correctly define the term 'fronting‘
When presented with a definition of the term fronting 94% of those surveyed deem fronting an insurance policy to be socially unacceptable.

Ashton West, Chief Executive of MIB said: "There is a significant degree of confusion amongst drivers about the importance of giving accurate information about the main driver to an insurer. There is a need to help drivers understand and appreciate the importance of being adequately insured."

A costly "white lie" - The research also highlights confusion over responsibility for damages in the event of an accident. Under a valid insurance policy, the insurer will cover the policyholder's liability for injury and property damage for any other parties involved and if the cover is comprehensive, the damage to the policyholder's own vehicle. However, a third (31%) of drivers wrongly assume that they will be covered if the policy is 'fronted‘. In fact, where it is proven that a policy has been ‘fronted', insurance companies can refuse to pay out damages to the "insured" vehicle and may look to recover third party claim costs from the policyholder or driver.

West continues: "Insurance is about peace of mind and knowing that the cost of your liability on the road is covered. In the event that the driver of a fronted policy is involved in an accident, both the policyholder and the driver could be open to additional costs, penalties, fines and - potentially - prosecution. It simply isn't worth the risk. There are a number of hints and advice about how to stay insured legitimately at askmid.com."

Nigel Bartram, motoring strategist at Aviva added: "Young drivers remain the age group with the highest proportion of insurance claims, accidents and fatalities on our roads, and this fact is reflected in their motor insurance premiums. Well meaning parents may consider fronting an insurance policy to try and save money, but this is false economy as those that try to cheat the system by declaring false information will find that their insurance is invalid when they actually need to make a claim on their policy.

"When parents are fronting up a young driver's policy it means the young driver is not fully declared and will not be able to accrue any no claims bonus of their own. It is important that insurers are covering the appropriate risk with the correct premium; otherwise this premium will have to be borne by other, honest customers."

Diary of an Insurance Broker

It's Monday morning at The Insurance Centre here in a very dull, weather wise,  Norwich.

As is usual for a Monday it's very busy with a varied mix of enquiries and issues ranging from Private Cars to Home Insurance. In the Commercial Business department we are busy arranging appointments to see clients regards to renewals due during next week and beyond and trying to promote our business and get new business enquiries.

An important factor with Insurance is gathering information. Being able to correct accurate information is essential to allow us to provide cover. On occasions we may need to ask, what seems, an excessive number questions. We are only trying to get the best premium and policy.

This has been one of the things that makes me angry regards to Insurance, many people seem to think that they have saved themselves a small fortune on their Car or Home Insurance for instance when in reality they have inaccurate policies or have huge excesses that they are totally unaware of which only come to light during a claim.

So, use a Broker we act as a safety net going through the information and working for you. Premium is not everything as clients will find out when they have claims and insurers either want extra money or reject their claim.
